President-elect Donald Trump nominated Republican congresswoman Doctor Elise Stefanik for the position of U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, one of his many selections to join an outgoing administration in WASHINGTON.
Trump, in a statement to the New York Post on Sunday, described Stefanik as "one of our country's brightest stars," and called her an "incredibly strong, tough, and smart America First fighter." It is a great honor for me to nominate Chairwoman Elise Stefanik to my Cabinet as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations," he continued
This announcement comes after Trump’s unexpected return to the White House following the November 5 election, where he won back the presidency. Stefanik, a prominent Trump ally and currently chair of the House Republican Conference, expressed her excitement in a statement, stating she was “truly honored” to be selected. “During my conversation with President Trump, I shared how deeply humbled I am to accept his nomination and that I look forward to earning the support of my colleagues in the United States Senate,” she said.
